Orion's Void

My life, technology, FOSS, and everything else.

Limbo (week 15)

I did not sleep much this week. I had around 6.5 hours of sleep each night, which doesn’t sound that bad, but my circadian rhythm got screwed. Not only that, but I was in a bad mood and had no motivation to do anything, and so I just kind of drifted through the days and rotted. During the weekend, I erased my sleep debt by sleeping for almost 10 hours each night. Now I go to bed at 21:00 and fall asleep around 21:50, which gives me around 8 hours of sleep, and I feel a lot better now.

Poor sleep

The reason I was sleeping late was because I was thinking a lot about my life. However, I reached some interesting conclusions. I realized that I’m wasting a lot of my potential. For the last 3 years or so, I have not been doing much with my time. Everything was alright and comfortable, but nothing extra was happening. It felt like being in limbo. I know that I can easily create and manifest something. I just don’t know what exactly I want. My whole life, I’ve been trying to find something I’m really passionate about. Picked up programming again, but the honeymoon period ended once again. I don’t like more advanced languages, and with Lua, I have no clue how I would make money. Game development, yes, but I don’t find that much enjoyable anymore. Eventually, I’m bound to find something. Maybe I’m just stressing about it too much.

I’ve been trying out different Content Management Systems

WordPress is not a bad CMS to use, but this week I have been experimenting with other content systems. In my last post, I mentioned Ghost, which offers plenty of features and is perfectly usable. I just don’t like some of their development decisions and approaches to certain topics. Furthermore, I used HUGO in the past, but I don’t like the way it updates and uploads content to the site. I don’t mind writing articles in Markdown, but I don’t like regenerating the whole site and manually uploading it again to the server. Last Tuesday, I found Publii, which, in my opinion, offers a great blend of Ghost’s pleasant UI and HUGO’s site generation. For this reason, I will remove Ghost from stellarorion.com and replace it with Publii. So far, I like Publii and might even replace WordPress in the future with it. Here is a little preview of the Publii site, which will be online in a few days.

Last update about the newsletter (for now)

I don’t have time for this at the moment. One of the main reasons is that I’m still hopping around CMSs and don’t have streamlined content. Once I fully commit to something and stop complicating my life, I will start the newsletter. Thanks for understanding…
